Inventory Management is a prime example of a PowerApp tailored to meet the specific needs of school districts. In service for over five years, the app has continually evolved based on user feedback and changing requirements. It supports different user levels, providing access to records either at the school or district-wide levels. Bulk input forms simplify repetitive tasks by carrying forward common data, allowing users to input only unique details such as serial numbers. The app transitions districts from cumbersome spreadsheets to a centralized database, enabling real-time updates by multiple users. This shift reduces paperwork and improves the accuracy of records. With the companion app, staff can efficiently scan barcodes to capture essential data like serial numbers and MAC addresses, significantly reducing their workload.

The Companion Inventory Scan App
The Inventory Scan app is a great example of a companion app I devleoped to streamline the process of data entry. It helps users to quickly enter new records into the same database as the Inenveotry Management app. The app has reduced a task that once took minutes to complete and now only takes seconds.
A custom app can be created for both Android and iOS devices, which gies you the flexability to work on tablets and phones. In most cases, the app will work on the devices you already have.

The barcode scanner utilizes the device’s camera to collect data, eliminating the need for additional hardware. This technology also reduces the complexity of the system for the end user. If you have entered inventory records before, you are aware that serial numbers can be difficult to read. A zero may be mistaken for the letter O, and the letter B may resemble the number 8. Especially with fatigue, human error is inevitable. With the Inventory Scan app, the barcode scanner reduces the fatigue of large amounts of data entry and users can review the results before submitting to ensure data entry is accurate.
